Love Lifted Me by Sara Evans with Rachel Hauck is a sweet southern love story about Jade and Max Benson. Jade and Max have gone through many challenges in their lives and their marriage. Jade is caring for Max’s son Asa as Max is finishing rehab. Max is a very successful lawyer with a powerful family, but decides to take an unexpected job as a high school football coach in Texas. Their journey begins as they learn to walk by faith and love each other again. They have a new beginning and a new adventure with all the twists and turns life has to offer. How will God work it all out in their lives?
I loved the plot of this story. The authors did a great job building characters that are believable and have real life challenges. I love that their relationship with God is central to their lives as well. They have tough problems and yet they give it another try with God at the center of their family.
The only thing I didn’t love about this book is that the authors spent a lot of time building the story up to the climax and then they fail to give as detailed an ending. It is like being led along on this journey (that takes awhile) and then they abruptly end it with a short explanation of what happened to each character. I am a busy mom of three so it was hard for me to hang in there through the middle only to get such an abrupt ending that just didn’t satisfy or fit with the tone of the rest of the book.
I would recommend this book to those that enjoy slower paced stories. It’s definitely a great story that I enjoyed reading!
